Mischievous Theatre was conceived over thirty years ago but was born here at the Theatre Royal, Margate in 2010 with a scratch event that showed, for the first time, a work in progress version of “The Con-Man”. The company was formed to create stimulating theatre and to encourage a greater involvement in the arts by the people of East Kent, particularly Thanet, and to tour work both nationally and internationally. Now based in Ramsgate, led by Clive Holland and aided by a lot of innovative theatrical, musical and arty chums, the company are collaborating with Third Party on their production of The Sagas of Noggin the Nog.
Third Party has been producing touring theatre for twenty years in the UK and abroad, playing theatres, village halls, festivals and found spaces.
The bulk of their recent work has been in collaboration with director John Wright and has featured strongly visual and physically expressive versions of classic plays. In 2009 they premiered their two language, two
country co-production of “The False Servant” by Marivaux at the Theatre Royal Margate. In 2012, Third Party adapted the children’s classic The Sagas of Noggin the Nog for the stage, directed by John Wright.
Following previews here at the Theatre Royal, the show went to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2014 to rave reviews, including 4 stars from The Independent and The Stage. A national tour is hotly anticipated.
Third Party and Mischievous Theatre are currently collaborating on a new and exciting project in search of new audiences for theatre…watch this space!
Stevenson Thompson & the Moving Memory Company
“This is not about age - it is about being human” “Thrilling” “Delightful and strangely moving” “Inspirational”
We are a well-established company that offers workshop and performance opportunities for older women. We offer the chance to try out new dance–theatre based skills and make high quality performance projects alongside professional artists. There is absolutely no need for past experience - just a desire to work with others to move and to try something different. It’s about challenging views of being an ‘old’ woman, the funny side of things; the stuff of life. Our in-house company, Moving Memory (a company of women aged between 52-82 who have been working & performing together for the last 4 years), will be running workshops in February 2015 in Margate, so please let us know if you like to join us.
We are also setting up a new weekly workshop at the Theatre Royal Margate so if you’re interested email: firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 07714 083258
