On 11 March, as part of the POW! International Women’s Day Festival, multi-award-winning storyteller Danyah Miller takes to our stage as she searches for a deeper understanding of her matriarchal lineage in the new play, ‘Perfectly Imperfect Women‘.
We found out a little more about this biographical wonder-tale’s star, Danyah Miller.
DANYAH MILLER – Wizard Presents, Producer and Performer:
Danyah’s training is in drama, dance and English, she later studied improvisation, mime and physical theatre at Lecoq in Paris. Danyah is a Course Leader at The International School of Storytelling in East Sussex where she regularly leads workshops.
As a theatre producer, for Wizard Presents, Danyah co-produced two West End musicals, including Olivier nominated ‘Soul Sister ‘which opened in 2012.
She recently starred in Wizard Presents production ‘I Believe in Unicorns’ by Michael Morpurgo, which premiered at Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 before touring nationally and internationally for 2.5 years. This one-woman show received an Argus Angel Award for Artistic Excellence at Brighton Festival 2014 and an Audience Choice Award for Get Creative Family Arts Festival 2015.
Most will remember her from her second one-woman show, ‘Why the Whales Came’ by Michael Morpurgo, which opened at Watford Palace Theatre in September 2016 and packed out Theatre Royal Margate back in October.
Danyah also works nationally and internationally as a performer and storytelling trainer.
For 2 years she was a regular storyteller on BBC Three Counties Radio. She recorded a 5-part version of The Snow Queen for BBC Radio Solent, which first aired over Christmas 2014.
