RECORD NUMBER OF LOCAL YOUNGSTERS AUDITION FOR CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME
Last week more than 65 local youngsters took part in auditions at the Theatre Royal, Margate in the hope of being chosen for this year’s professional pantomime “Beauty and the Beast”.
Following the incredible success of last year’s “Cinderella” Polka Dot Pantomimes will return to present this year’s spectacular festive production and have been on the search for an all-singing, all-dancing chorus of young people aged 8-18.
Extensive auditions were held at the theatre as the hopefuls battled it out for a place alongside a professional West End cast which will also include a soon to be revealed celebrity. Competition was fierce and the high standard of the children that attended made it a very difficult decision for the judging panel – which included Artistic Directors of Polka Dot Pantomimes Darren Madison and Helen Wright.
Darren was very impressed and commented “The talent and enthusiasm that the children showed throughout the audition proved that Margate has lots of talent and the children were a real credit to their community. We were overwhelmed by the standard and this made it really hard for us to choose the final 24. However, we got there in the end and are really looking forward to producing Beauty and the Beast at the historic and beautiful Theatre Royal”.
Tickets are now on sale for what promises to be Margate’s most spectacular pantomime ever which will include dazzling costumes, amazing special effects, lots of magic and plenty of audience participation.
